How to dispose of food waste in Birmingham
Food caddy if issued to your home
Food caddies are being introduced in phases. If your household has received the brown outdoor caddy, the council says it accepts raw and cooked food, including meat, bones, dairy, leftovers, tea bags, and coffee grounds. Do not put packaging, liquids, oil, or garden waste in it.
What to do
- Check whether your address has started the food collection.
- If you have the council caddy, put loose food in it without packaging.
- If you have not received a caddy, follow the current instructions for your address.
